Presidential Dollars

The United States is honoring our Nation's Presidents by issuing $1 circulating coins featuring their images in the order that they served in office.  The United States Mint issues four Presidential $1 Coins each year, with Presidents Johnson, Grant, Hayes, and Garfield being honored in 2011.   Each coin has a common reverse design featuring a striking rendition of the Statue of Liberty.  These coins feature large, dramatic artwork, as well as edge-incused inscriptions of the year of minting, or issuance, E PLURIBUS UNUM and the mint mark.  In 2009 "In God We Trust" was moved from the edge to the face of the coin.  The size, weight and metal composition of the Presidential $1 Coins are identical to that of the Sacagawea Golden Dollar and the Native American $1 Coins. 

State Quarters

Launched in 1999, the United States Mint's 50 State Quarters Program was a 10-year initiative that honored each of the nation's states in the order that they ratified the Constitution or were admitted into the Union. Each quarter was produced for about 10 weeks and will never be produced again. State designs are displayed on the reverse (tails) of the quarters, while the obverse design displays the familiar image of George Washington. But, to accommodate state designs on the reverse, the words "United States of America," "Quarter Dollar," "Liberty," and "In God We Trust" all appear on the obverse.
